Duties and Responsibilities: 

Work Habits - 25%
• Attend work predictably and reliably to provide consistency and continuity of services.
• Completes all mandatory institutional training by established deadlines.
• Participate in night, weekend and after hour advising, recruitment, and retention initiative as needed.

Behavioral Standards - 30%
• Provide students with enhanced, proactive academic advising/planning, transfer counseling, and personal support.
• Provide assistance to students who are undecided about majors/careers with choosing an academic or career pathway.
• Monitor student progress and coach students to take advantage of available resources to promote academic and student success.
• Assist students with understanding the policies and procedures for satisfactory academic progress and degree/certificate completion.
• Assist with providing services to special student populations, such as military/veteran, transfer, minority, first generation, etc.
• Utilize existing software programs such as Degree Works, Banner, and Starfish to assist students 
• Maintain accurate records of all student interactions.
• Maintain confidentiality of information in compliance with applicable Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974 regulations, as amended.

Institutional Support - 25%
• Participate in team meetings, divisional meetings, convocation, and professional and staff development training.
• Addresses and resolves issues efficiently to minimize impact on students, visitors, and colleagues.

Team Relations - 20%
• Work cooperatively and collaboratively with faculty and staff in a team, within the department, and between campuses to ensure the delivery of student support services.
• Maintain a safe and respectful environment by upholding institutional policies and promptly reporting any behavior or conditions that may constitute harassment, discrimination, Title IX violations, power-based violence, or other policy breaches.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate degree or a minimum of one year of Academic advising

 

Required Licenses or Certifications: 

• Valid, unencumbered driver's license

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree with one year of academic advising experience.
