Duties and Responsibilities:
Instructional/Teaching Performance & Development
• Utilize innovative, effective, and equitable teaching techniques
• Follow course syllabi and outlines
• Maintain time on task
• Receive favorable student evaluations of instruction
• Maintain teaching load practiced by college
• Develop Curriculum Guides, course syllabi and outlines, and other instructional materials
• Prepare course offering schedule based on Curriculum Guides
• Participate in curriculum meetings
• Other Related Duties as Assigned and/or Listed as Program Specific Job Position Details
Instructional/Classroom Management
• Maintain an active advisory committee with required composition of membership, and hold a minimum of two meetings annually
• Maintain appropriate student records, i.e., grades, attendance, placement, completion, and licensure statistics (if applicable), etc.
• Practice appropriate safety precautions
• Maintain student discipline
Student Guidance/Advising Activities/Student Mentoring
• Provide guidance, career counseling, and academic advising
• Serve special populations
• Make appropriate referrals to students with special needs
• Maintain appropriate number of students in class and in program
• Help students establish realistic goals, behavior changes, and ways to overcome barriers
• Encourage and support students to move out of their comfort zones, network, and celebrate successes
• Identify resources for personal development/growth, such as books, workshops, or other learning tools
College and/or Community Services
• Participate in recruitment activities, i.e. career fairs, etc.
• Maintain program accreditation/certification or program licensure requirements
• Provide service to the college that may include some of the following activities:
o Sponsor student organizations
o Conduct or coordinate teaching consultant activities
o Facilitate workshops
o Teach continuing education or customized industry courses
o Initiate and write new program proposals
o Provide service to the community that may include:
o Participate in health fairs, charity or community activities and/or organizations
Professional Activities, Leadership, and Service
• Participate in professional development activities that may include:
• Complete coursework or degrees
• Membership in professional organizations
• Serve on a Board or in an Office of a professional association
• Present a paper or facilitate a workshop at a professional conference
• Participate in a Leadership Academy
• Serve on an external institutional or program accreditation team
• Participate in industry visits
• Exemplify Leadership role on Fletcher or LCTCS Committees, Faculty Council, etc.
This adjunct teaching role may include instructional responsibilities within a secure correctional facility as part of WIOA Section 225 (Corrections Education). In such assignments, instructors will:
• Deliver ABE/ASE instruction aligned with WorkReady U and College & Career Readiness Standards
• Administer TABE, HiSET, and required assessments in accordance with facility protocols
• Adhere to all safety, security, and behavioral guidelines as established by the correctional facility
• Use instructional materials approved for secure settings
• Refer students to reentry or support services when appropriate
• Complete security training and background checks required by the facility
• Teach scheduled classes in the evening (9 hours/week, as applicable)
• Comply with all WRU, WIOA Section 225, and Department of Corrections policies

Required Education: An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university and professional experience required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Candidates must have good instructional techniques, computer knowledge, a student-centered attitude, and must be well organized.
Preferred Education: A bachelor’s degree in education or a related field is preferred.
