Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership and Administration
• Provide leadership for campus safety and law-enforcement operations across all LDCC campuses and sites.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate departmental policies, procedures, and strategic goals aligned with the College’s mission.
• Prepare, administer, and manage departmental budgets funded through appropriated sources.
• Recruit, supervise, evaluate, and support the professional development of full-time and part-time sworn personnel.

Campus Safety and Compliance
• Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, LCTCS policies, and regulatory requirements, including the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.
• Oversee the preparation and submission of the Annual Security Report and required crime statistics.
• Direct criminal investigations, incident response, and coordination with prosecutorial and law-enforcement agencies, as appropriate.

Emergency Management and Preparedness
• In collaboration with College leadership, develop, maintain, and implement district-wide emergency preparedness, response, and continuity plans.
• Coordinate training, drills, and exercises for students, faculty, and staff.
• Serve as a key leader during emergencies and critical incidents.

Community Policing and Partnerships
• Promote a community-policing philosophy emphasizing prevention, visibility, trust, and engagement.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal departments and external law-enforcement and emergency-response agencies.
• Serve on College committees and represent LDCC at local, regional, and state meetings as required.
Operations and Communication
• Oversee parking enforcement, traffic control, special-event security, and campus patrol operations.
• Provide timely briefings to the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, and other cabinet members regarding safety-related issues.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of College operations.

Required Education: 

Minimum Qualifications Required
• Associate’s degree or seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in law enforcement or public safety.
• Demonstrated supervisory and administrative experience, including personnel management and budgeting.
• Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and public-relations skills.
• Commitment to community-oriented policing and service excellence.
• Experience evaluating and improving policies, procedures, and organizational practices.
• Understanding of higher-education environments and the needs of diverse, geographically dispersed campus communities.
• Eligibility for certification by the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training (POST) within one (1) year of appointment.
• Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, ethical conduct, and the mission of Louisiana Delta Community College.

Preferred
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Ten (10) or more years of law-enforcement experience, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory role (Sergeant or above).
• Prior experience in campus or higher-education public safety.
• Experience with emergency management, Clery Act compliance, and large-scale event coordination.

Working Conditions and Requirements
• Must be available for on-call response and flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to respond to emergencies and critical incidents across multiple campuses.
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background screening.
