Duties and Responsibilities:
Work Habits – 30%
o Develop and Implement Communication Plans:
o Assist with the creation of communication plans to effectively reach and engage students.
o Assist with alignment of communication strategies with institutional goals and student needs.
o Manage Digital Content:
o Develop and maintain content for various digital platforms, including the student portal Canvas, website, Student Engagement social media accounts, the SoLAcc app, and email newsletters.
o Create Promotional Materials:
o Design and produce promotional materials such as flyers, posters, and digital graphics for all
Student Engagement events, services, and programs.
o Ensure that all materials are visually appealing, accurate, and aligned with the institution’s brand guidelines.
o Facilitate Student Information Dissemination:
o Distribute important information, announcements, and updates to students in a timely and
effective manner at the discretion of the Director of Strategic Communications and the Executive Director for Student Services.
o Monitor and Analyze Communication Effectiveness:
o Track engagement metrics and analyze the effectiveness of communication efforts.
o Prepare reports on communication activities and provide recommendations.
Behavioral Standards – 30%
o Develop and Implement Engagement Strategies:
o Create and execute strategies to enhance student involvement and participation
o Design programs and initiatives that align with the institution’s goals.
o Manage Engagement Data and Reports:
o Maintain records of engagement activities, participation rates, and other relevant data.
o Prepare reports and presentations on student engagement trends and outcomes for
stakeholders.
o Manage Student Feedback Channels:
o Implement systems for collecting and addressing student feedback via digital platforms.
o Respond to inquiries and concerns from students in a timely and professional manner.
o Manage Student Engagement Initiatives:
o Plan, coordinate, and promote student events, workshops, and activities.
o Collaborate with student organizations, clubs, and departments to support engagement.
o Assist with the planning and execution of all OSE signature events.
o Lead small-scale campus-specific events and programs on the Abbeville, Crowley,
Opelousas, and Ville Platte campuses.
Team Relations – 20%
o Coordinate with Campus Departments:
o Collaborate with various campus departments and offices to ensure consistent messaging and effective communication. Facilitate cross-departmental initiatives and projects that
enhance student engagement.
o Support Student Organizations:
o Assist student organizations with communication strategies, event planning, and resource
allocation.
o Organize training and workshops for student leaders to enhance their skills in communication
and engagement.
Institutional Support – 20%
o In collaboration with the Director of Strategic Communications and Digital Marketing Strategist,
support large-scale, campus-wide marketing and communications efforts. This may include posting
on social media and the app regarding school closure days, major events, and important updates.
o Supporting the Office of the Chancellor, Academic and Student Affairs, and Economic and Workforce Development in the communication of internal and external student engagement opportunities.
o Assist all Student and Enrollment Service departments with the marketing and communication of all
events, programs, and student engagement opportunities.
o Attend special events during normal hours, in the evenings, or on the weekends to capture student
engagement footage.
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. Four (4) years of professionally comparable experience may be substituted for the required degree.
Required Experience:
Three years of experience working in a higher education setting, preferably in roles related to student
engagement, student services, or communications. OR
Three years of experience in creating and managing content across various communication platforms,
including social media, websites, newsletters, and promotional materials. OR
Three years of experience in planning, organizing, and executing events and programs for diverse audiences.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
Valid, unencumbered driver's license.
Preferred Experience:
5 years experience working with diverse populations with a college, public agency, or similar.
5 years experience managing marketing and communication strategies.
5 years experience working with student groups, organizations, and event planning management.
