Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Maintain performance standards and pursue goals, objectives, and activities that promote the mission, vision and value statement of the College.

• Design instructional approaches and assist faculty in course curriculum development, including overall course design from concept to implementation; development of learning outcomes measurement tools; selection/development of instructional materials and technologies that align to learning outcomes; design and develop assessments that effectively measure defined learning outcomes.

• Assists with the development of all course modalities and develops instructional materials consistent with adult learning theory.

• Utilizes strong written communication skills to assist faculty in building clear and concise course descriptions; creates clear written course directions easily understood and followed by all students.

• Learn new technologies and applications, as needed, to assist in course design.

• Provides guidance for curriculum and/or instructional program development, equipment and implementation; participates in planning for current and future college learning needs; provides organizations support as needed.

• Assists with the review and evaluation of course materials for quality, consistency, and alignment with learning objectives.

• Provide training, workshops, and support to faculty and staff on (but not limited to): instructional methodologies, instructional design principles, and evidence-based teaching practices.

• Foster, demonstrate, and actively participate in a culture of mutual respect for students, guests, and co-workers from all backgrounds, perspectives and abilities. Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and supervisors and utilize appropriate channels of communication within the college community concerning procedures and/or inquiries.

• Attend and participate in scheduled activities, which include graduation, open house/recruiting events as assigned, convocation, and required meetings. Share ideas and information, and work toward common department and College goals.

• Serve on college committees as a member or as chair. Serve on search committees.

• Participate in professional development activities that enhance effectiveness (convocation, LCTCS conference, etc.).

• Represent the college in a manner that promotes a professional and positive image.

• Adhere to College and LCTCS policies.

• Embrace college culture.

• Complete all required assignments prior to deadlines (Fletcher/LCTCS trainings, etc.).

• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Required Education: Master's degree in a discipline relevant to teaching and learning, such as education, instructional design, educational technology, curriculum development, or a related field.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated expertise in instructional methodologies, instructional design principles and development, and evidence-based teaching practices. Strong computer knowledge, organization, time management, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and/or administrators. Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in education, online learning, and educational research. Must be a motivated, self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently with accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

 

Preferred Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of related experience preferred in a related discipline; previous instructional design experience. Proficiency in using authoring tools (e.g., Adobe Captivate) and learning management systems (e.g., Canvas); knowledge of adult learning principles.
