Job Summary: The UWF Department of Communication, housed within the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities (CASSH), seeks a dynamic instructor to join our full-time faculty as an Instructor. Start date either in Summer or Fall 2023, depending on the top candidate’s availability. The department offers a broad array of courses within the field of communication, including advertising, digital video and cinema, journalism, public relations, rhetoric, and social media. Instructors and tenure-line faculty work as partners within a collegial departmental environment. Position duties include teaching four courses per semester in public speaking, social media content production, and advertising, as well as additional areas of expertise in applied elements of mass-mediated communication.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties.
Position Qualifications: An MA in Communication or closely related field, from an accredited institution, is required.
Preferred Qualifications The ideal candidate would have:
• A Ph.D. in Communication or closely related field
• Training in digital media – including both theory and practice
• Professional competencies in current industry software and digital design
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
• Experience writing in, or teaching writing about, one or more industry professions: social media content production, public relations, advertising, or journalism
• University-level teaching experience
• Qualified to teach public speaking
