About the role: Aurizon’s Bulk & Containerised Freight (BCF) business is building a high‑performance, insights‑driven culture — and we’re looking for a Power BI Developer to help shape it.
You’ll sit within the Integrated Planning & Commercial team, supporting decision‑making that directly impacts operational and financial outcomes. This role is hands‑on and business‑embedded, focused on delivering reporting solutions that solve real‑time problems and enable leaders to act confidently.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain Power BI reporting used by frontline teams through to senior executives.
- Drive quality, usability and consistency across reporting solutions.
- Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into practical, user‑focused insights.
- Optimise performance through effective data modelling, star schema design, pushing data transformations upstream and incremental refresh techniques
- Troubleshoot reporting issues, ensuring accuracy and trust in the data.
- Build understanding of operational systems and how their use influences data useability.
- Maintain clear documentation on definitions, assumptions and changes.
- Collaborate with Technology and data engineering teams where needed.
- Explore opportunities to use new Power BI/Fabric features and adjacent tools, such as Power Automate.
- Some non Power BI improvement initiatives within Bulk & Containerised Freight as required.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Experience in an analytical role using data to drive actions or decisions.
- 2+ years’ experience building Power BI reporting in an enterprise environment.
- Strong capability across the Power BI stack: DAX, Power Query (M) and SQL.
- Ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems or an analytical discipline.
- Interest and experience in adjacent tools (Power Automate, Python, AI, etc.).
