Customer Account Manager – Finished Vehicle & Containerised Freight

Location: Brisbane

  • Be part of a new national service launch for the transportation of automobiles
  • Work with one of Australia’s largest and most trusted freight and logistics providers
  • Play a visible role shaping customer experience in a growing business

Aurizon is launching an exciting new finished vehicle land bridge and containerised freight service, opening a strategic gateway and reducing transit times for customers importing to Australia and creating new supply chain solutions for automotive and freight customers.

To support this growth, we are seeking a Customer Account Manager who thrives at the intersection of sales, customer relationships, and operational delivery. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking a service from contract signature through to successful execution and ongoing performance.

About the Role

As Customer Account Manager, you will be the primary point of contact for key customers utilising Aurizon’s finished vehicle and containerised freight services from when they arrive in Darwin to when they are delivered throughout the country. You will transition customers from sales into live operations, ensuring services are launched smoothly, performance expectations are met, and long‑term partnerships are strengthened.

This is a hands‑on role requiring strong collaboration with operations, rail, road, terminals, shipping lines, and automotive and freight customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of customers using Aurizon’s finished vehicle services
  • Lead the handover from commercial agreements to operational execution, ensuring clarity on scope, volumes, service levels, and pricing
  • Act as the voice of the customer within Aurizon, working closely with operations teams to deliver agreed outcomes
  • Coordinate service start‑ups, ramp‑ups, and change management for new and evolving customer requirements
  • Monitor service performance, resolve issues, and proactively identify improvement opportunities
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with customers across automotive, logistics, shipping, and freight sectors
  • Support revenue growth through retention, service optimisation, and identification of upsell or expansion opportunities
  • Prepare customer reporting, performance reviews, and operational insights
  • Ensure compliance with safety, commercial, and contractual requirements

About You

You are commercially minded, operationally curious, and confident engaging with customers and internal teams alike. You understand how freight actually moves — and how to keep customers informed, confident, and satisfied when plans change.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Experience in account management, customer success, or sales‑to‑operations roles
  • Background in trucking, logistics, rail, shipping lines, automotive logistics, or containerised freight
  • Strong understanding of supply chain and transport operations
  • Proven ability to manage customer relationships in a complex, operational environment
  • Confidence coordinating multiple stakeholders and resolving service issues
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem‑solving skills
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑growing, evolving service environment

Experience with finished vehicles, OEMs, ports, terminals, or intermodal services will be highly regarded.
