About the role:
Aurizon’s Coal Business is seeking to recruit for our Technical Specialist team (Train Operations) in the CQCN region. The roles will be based at rail depots in the Blackwater system. Responsibilities include leading with investigations management and development of endorsed operational standards and procedures for train operations and train handling, ensuring rail safety risks are controlled in accordance with the Safety Management System. More broadley the role is critical in supporting our operational depots through effective training, competency management, and assurance activities.
The role will be accountable for;
- Leading the development and implementation of optimum driving methodologies to delivering safe train handling to mitigate derailments, SPAD's and train partings
- Leading the development and implementation of yard operations standards to deliver safe and efficient operation of services.
- Leading the development and implementation of upskilling Train Drivers to problem solve issues with the train, e.g. fault finding and resolution.
- Utilising simulation and train data analysis tools to assist in decision making.
- Continually improving the technical capability of Driver Trainers to improve train driving standards within the region.
- Undertaking reviews and investigations, conduct research and prepare comprehensive and accurate reports on operational activities or incidents (i.e. train management) as required.
- Maintaining a high level of competence and technical knowledge of train and yard operations through the regular performance of relevant duties (i.e. driving trains)
About you:
- You’re a qualified locomotive driver with extensive driving experience in the CQCN network.
- Training and assessment qualifications and experience preferred.
- High level leadership and interpersonal skills which encourage participation, teamwork, trust and continual learning.
- Sound investigation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level oral and written communication skills.
- Substantial knowledge of safety management systems, Safe working systems, isolation and lockout standards.
- Substantial knowledge of the statutory regulations, Industrial Relations and policy provisions relating to train operations.
- Demonstration of integrity in all business interactions and honours personal commitments.
- Ability to travel and work at various locations as per business requirement.
