The Chief Flight Instructor manages and oversees all flight training operations within SOWELA Technical Community College’s 14 CFR Part 61 and 141 flight programs. This position is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of flight instruction, safety, compliance, and student success. The Chief Flight Instructor assists in supervising flight instructors, conducting evaluations, ensuring adherence to FAA and institutional standards, and providing direct flight and ground instruction to students pursuing Private, Instrument, Commercial, and Instructor certificates and ratings. This position contributes to SOWELA’s mission to cultivate a highly skilled aviation workforce for Southwest Louisiana and supports the College’s Strategic Plan priorities of Workforce Development, Adult Learners, and Special Populations.

The Industrial Mechanics for Millwrights and Machinists Instructor is responsible for instructing students to set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments, including work commonly performed by Millwrights and Machinists.
