The purpose of this position is to maintain the accounting ledgers of the college's grants, sponsored programs, restricted funds, and to timely audit and reconcile travel expense accounts. The responsibilities of the Sr. Restricted
Funds Accountant and Travel Administrator includes, but is not limited to, ensuring compliance with the funding sources' administrative guidelines, timely receipt of revenues, accurate submission of financial reports, orderly closure
of projects; and to process, review, and strictly audit employee travel for the entire college to ensure compliance with state travel PPM49 guidelines.
This position also serves as a Program Administrator for the college’s CBA, Travel and Purchasing Cards. The Travel Administrator must demonstrate a senior level understanding of state travel regulations, policies and procedures. This role involves oversight of travel compliance requirements and requires exceptional attention to detail.
This position will report directly to the Controller of Finance and Accounting.
Key Responsibilities

- Auditing all travel transactions for each CBA card, Individual Billed Travel Card and Purchasing Card utilized by the entire college. This includes but is not limited to: authorizations and travel expense reimbursements including cash advances, airfare, registration, credit cards, hotel, and any other travel related expenses for all campuses, including encumbering travel budgets, maintaining the college's travel log and verifying and reconciling credit card usage. This also includes monthly reconciliations, quarterly reports and General Ledger Analysis.
- Monitoring and tracking the financial status of each grant program through the program's life cycle and proving assistance to program managers of the financial program.
- Reviewing and preparing general ledger accounting entries related to restricted funding sources to complete monthly reconciliations and to provide financial guidance and direction to program managers.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 3 years of grant accounting related experience at a higher education institution; or
- An associate's degree in accounting, and 4 years of grant accounting experience can substitute the requirement to have a bachelor's degree in accounting
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Proficient:
- Proficient working knowledge of accepted accounting/bookkeeping principles and methods preferably with an emphasis on college accounting/experience.
- Proficient knowledge of computer applications: Excel, Word, Outlook.
- Proficient interpersonal and communication skills in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with peers and subordinate.
- Master’s degree in Accounting or MBA, or a closely related field.
- 5+ years of grant accounting related experience at a higher education institution.
