Job Summary: | Management of Clinical Rotations – Students spend 1-2 semesters doing a clinical rotation, and it is the Site Coordinator who develops their schedule, helps the students obtain clinical training licenses, visits them at the site, meets with clinical faculty at the site, and evaluates placements and clinical curriculum. While students are trained at the clinical site, their grade is imposed by UWF, therefore this position is key to assessment. A list of specific duties is found at the end of this document. The Clinical Site Coordinator works closely with the Program Director to maintain the accreditation standards of the program and fulfill the requirements of the clinical affiliation agreements. Teaching – The candidate, if qualified, will teach the course “Special Clinical Topics”, the CLS professional course. This course must be taught to the standards of the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences to cover the topics defined in Standard 22 (NAACLS document 2012), and to cover material required by the State of Florida Department of Health. Scholarly Activity – The candidate must take advantage of opportunities for professional development. Avenues for such include Lectures, Professional Conferences, Workshops on Teaching, Workshops on Accreditation, and Workshops on Evaluation. There is no requirement for grant writing or original research. The candidate is encouraged to publish, especially with students, but this is not required. The candidate must maintain a Florida license as a clinical laboratory technologist. Service – The candidate will be a member of the Clinical Laboratory Sciences Program Advisory Committee. The candidate will be the Chair of the Student Selection committee, which meets twice a year. The candidate may be asked to serve on ad hoc committees. |

Minimum Qualifications: | Holds at least the master's degree in an appropriate specialization or the equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and is otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties. The appointee may engage in teaching, scholarship and creative projects, and/or service and other related activities, but is not eligible for tenure. |
Position Qualifications: | Bachelor’s degree or certificate as a medical laboratory scientist in CLS or Master’s degree or PhD/Doctorate in CLS, scientific discipline, or education The candidate must maintain a Florida license as a clinical laboratory technologist. Supervisory experience. |
