All assistantships require some scheduled night and weekend obligations per semester. These obligations can be associated with major department events, including, but not limited to: move-in weekends and hall closing days. As with any live-in position, staff members are also responsible for handling crises as they occur within or outside of office hours. These assistantships will average 30 hours per week over the course of the academic year. |

The University of West Florida has an opening for a 12 Month Full-Time Technical Director to begin in Summer 2025. This is an Instructor position, located on our main campus, that includes teaching of technical theatre courses, supervision of student crews and student staff in the scene shop and on departmental productions, coordination of crews for outside rentals, budgeting and purchasing for the scene shop, maintenance of Scene shop and equipment, and lab supervision of Tech Theatre students. UWF offers a BA and BFA in theatre. The department produces 4 to 5 shows annually and has 2 theatre spaces, a black box, and a proscenium. This position will be required to do all structural designs and drawing for faculty and student scenic designers. Teaching courses in Technical Theatre including Technical Theatre in Scenic and Lighting as well as other courses as assigned. The ideal candidate must have thorough knowledge of scenic materials and construction techniques, rigging, theatre safety, and lighting; familiarity with sound and projection equipment desirable. Outside opportunities working with local organizations and other arts organizations is also possible. |
