Job Summary: The University of West Florida (UWF) Center for Cybersecurity in Pensacola, Florida, invites applications and nominations for Associate Director for the Center for Cybersecurity (Position Number 126030) at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor dependent on qualifications and experience. The position can be non-tenure earning, tenure-track, or tenured depending on the candidate's education and experience. The Associate Director will help lead and support the Center’s nationally recognized education, training, research, and outreach activities. This is a full-time, 12- month position (9-month position with a guaranteed 1.0 FTE summer appointment) that can start June 2023 or later. Salary is competitive and commensurate with education, experience, and rank.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or closely related discipline from an accredited institution with a strong commitment to cybersecurity-related teaching, research, administration, and service.

The Associate Director will help lead and support the Center’s nationally recognized education, training, research, and outreach activities. 
Preferred Qualifications Candidates who have some of the qualifications below are preferred.

Demonstrated experience and accomplishments in cybersecurity teaching, grants, and/or research appropriate for the academic rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

Demonstrated experience in cybersecurity teaching, training, and/or curriculum development, as evident through development and instruction of cybersecurity courses and training programs in face-to-face, online, or hybrid learning environments, and teaching recognitions.

Demonstrated ability to secure external funding, including grants and contracts, to support education, training, workforce development, and research programs. Prior experience in the role of PI or Co-PI on funded grants and contracts.

Administrative or management experience, including managing training and/or workforce development programs. Familiarity with cyber ranges and their use to enhance education and training. Cybersecurity industry certifications, such as Security+, CEH, or CISSP. Capable of holding a security clearance.
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
  • 40% - Teaching, training and curriculum development. Development and instruction of successful cybersecurity courses and training programs, including undergraduate and graduate cybersecurity courses and programs in face-to-face, online and distance learning environments. Development and instruction of successful cybersecurity industry certifications including but not limited to Security+, CEH, or CISSP. Collaborate with faculty from a variety of disciplines. Mentor and advise students. - (Essential)
  • 30% - Provide administrative support and management of Center operations, training, and/or workforce development programs. Develop and enhance strategic partnerships. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and IT support personnel to plan and assess Center capabilities, resources, and ranges to enhance their use for education and training programs and services. - (Essential)
  • 30% - Actively engage in securing external funding, including grants and contracts, to support education, training, workforce development, and research programs. Actively participate in the role of PI or Co-PI on funded grants and contracts. Disseminate results and outcomes via presentations and publications. Oversee student research activities. - (Essential)
