About the role
In this role, your focus will be to proactively seek and support investment opportunities within the region. You will play a key role in building partnerships with stakeholders, developers, and landowners. You will identify and promote investment prospects, coordinate initiatives, secure new investments and support local enterprises while contributing to The City’s long-term economic vision and strategic goals.
Work type: Permanent Full Time
Classification: Band 7 $100,064-$110,990 pa plus super
Key responsibilities include:
- Proactively identify, pursue and facilitate investment opportunities to attract new business and development.
- Assist local businesses in their expansion efforts, including identifying and leveraging export opportunities to enhance their market reach and competitiveness.
- Work closely with government agencies (Such as Invest Victoria and Global Victoria) to align investment and development activities with broader state and national economic strategies.
- Manage and coordinate strategies, promotional material and initiatives that highlight Geelong’s competitive advantages, industry strengths and other attributes.
- Manage projects, utilising best practise project management tools and processes, to deliver economic opportunity.
- Case-Manage and respond to investment enquiries in a best practise manner.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will bring a solid background in local government, with experience at both national and international levels. You will provide guidance and support to staff on complex matters while fostering positive relationships with key stakeholders. You will possess strong relationship management skills, an interest in investment and attraction, along with the flexibility to work outside regular hours for business events.
Essential Experience:
- A Degree in Business, Economics, Planning, Commerce, or a related field.
- Substantial experience in one or more areas of economic development, business development, small business engagement, industry development, business planning.
- A proven ability to design and deliver large projects using best practise project management tools.
- A solid understanding of economic development trends, concepts, issues and opportunities, and the role of Government in economic development.
- Demonstrated ability to engender effective and productive relationships to achieve outcomes both internal and external to the organisation.
- Highly developed analytical, investigative, research and interpretive skills.
- Exceptional computer, written and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, organise and manage own time to achieve targets within a set timetable and deliver outcomes and pro-active solutions.
- Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
