About the role
In this role, you will provide relevant and timely financial and business performance management analysis, strategic advice and specialist support to Council and Executive Leadership levels to enable informed decisions and actions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deliver the Council Long Term Financial Plan and provide updated data to Executive Leadership Team and Councillors to enable informed strategic and financial decisions.
  • Provide strategic financial advice and decision analysis support for Council and the Executive Leadership team
  • Asses impacts and provide strategic guidance on the Councils Long Term Financial Plan on initiatives including business cases, structure and service reviews, process improvement, cost management initiatives etc.
  • Oversee organisational financial reporting by divisions to meet corporate timelines and standards.
  • Deliver monthly and quarterly management reports for the Executive Leadership Team and Council, highlighting key variances to budget, risks and opportunities.
  • Deliver the preparation of the budgeted financial statements, long term financial plan and supporting notes/appendices in the annual budget publication.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have sound experience in financial performance management and analysis and a relevant tertiary qualification in a commerce, accounting or business.  Chartered accountant or Certified Practicing Accountant essential.

Essential Experience:

  • Highly developed analytical, investigative, interpretative and presentation skills
  • Ability to provide strategic advice to enable to decision making
  • Sound problem solving ability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively engage across all levels of an organisation, especially at the executive level
  • Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
