About the Role
As the Security Technical Support Officer, you will play a major role in our front of house concierge team, support the management and administration of council security systems, including access control, CCTV and other computer-based applications. You’ll also assist with tasks in the mailroom operations. This role involves working closely with the Security Technical Officer to maintain security processes, supervise contractors, and handle daily security-related tasks for council-managed facilities.

Classification: Band 5 $76,355 - $86,617 pa plus super
Key responsibilities include:
- System Support: Assist in the programming, updates, and troubleshooting of access control systems, intruder alarms, and electronic lockers.
- Maintenance Coordination: Respond to security requests, allocate repairs, and ensure timely maintenance.
- Contractor Supervision: Liaise with contractors, manage work orders, and ensure safety and compliance.
- Concierge Assistance: Support front-of-house operations, conduct security inspections, and ensure a professional presence at the concierge desk.
- Mailroom Duties: Oversee internal mail operations, including managing incoming/outgoing mail and assisting with digital mail systems.
- Collaboration: Work with the Security Technical Officer and Facilities Maintenance team on physical and system-based security operations.
About you
- Qualifications: Certificate 3 in Security Operations (including Control Room Monitoring and Screening), WorkSafe Construction Induction (White Card), and a current Working with Children Check (employee).
- Experience:
- Proficiency in computer systems, including MS Office 365 and security-specific applications.
- Knowledge of building security systems, access control, CCTV, and building management systems.
- Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety requirements, including Safe Work Method Statements.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to prioritize tasks under pressure, and excellent problem-solving abilities.
Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check and a pre-employment medical assessment as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
