About the role
In this role you will work with a passionate team on various sport and recreation planning projects and be a key advisor to the Council on sport and recreation matters, making sure our strategies and plans are put into action and that we have suitably planned and designed facilities for our community.

Classification: Band 7 $100,064 - $110,990 pa plus super

Key responsibilities include:

  • Prepare reports/submissions for senior management and Council regarding political and strategic issues to meet existing and future community sport & recreation needs.
  • Monitor, respond and anticipate the changing needs of the community in the provision of sport & recreation opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities for sport and recreation related research, planning and capital works in line with policy and priorities.
  • Provide specialist advice to council and the community on the planning and development of sport & recreation assets and land.
  • Respond as appropriate to community requests for assistance and information with respect to recreation services.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a tertiary qualification in sports management or other relevant field and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role within the sport and recreation industry.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience in the development of recreation strategies, plans and policy.
  • Excellent communication skills, including negotiation, building relationships, and writing reports.
  • Good understanding of the sport and recreation industry.
  • Work well with different people both inside and outside the organisation.
  • Experience in managing projects and knowing how to prioritise tasks are also important for this role.
  • Knowledge of trends and innovation in the sport & recreation field through involvement with professional organizations.
