Job Summary: The Student Support Specialist is responsible for the efficient management and implementation of testing services within Student Accessibility Resources (SAR). This role ensures that all testing accommodations are effectively administered in compliance with departmental policies and procedures. This position oversees the day-to-day operations of testing services, including the preparation and delivery of tests, working closely with faculty to communicate details about test formatting, specific instructions, and required materials for test administration. The Student Support Specialist is responsible for scheduling exams, managing database entries, coordinating testing spaces, maintaining accurate records of student exams, verifying student identity, checking students in for exams, seating students, and ensuring students have the appropriate exam materials. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while ensuring the integrity of the testing process. The Student Support Specialist is essential in providing a seamless testing experience for students and ensuring that accommodations are properly implemented.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization
Position Qualifications: Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other applicable federal/state laws regarding students with disabilities; ability to work with minimal supervision and function well in a high-paced, non-routine environment with mature judgment and sound decision making skills. The role requires excellent written and oral communication skills along with a focus on accurate record keeping and attention to detail. It also demands strong organizational and time management skills as well as the ability to work well with faculty, staff, students and other key stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge and experience with coordinating testing services to include testing procedures, testing security, and confidentiality of test materials and related documents. Experience delivering frontline student support services in higher education; Knowledge and experience with standard office software applications and IT maintenance; knowledge of ADA, 504, and 508 compliance.
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
  • 70% - Coordinate testing accommodations and proctoring exams under approved conditions for students registered with SAR. Coordinate testing operations to ensure and maintain security of testing materials and environment, develop and implement standards and guidelines for testing, serve as the point of contact for testing procedures; schedule and manage test calendar; document testing requests in database and generate daily rosters. Manage needs of testing rooms and spaces. Collaborate with students and faculty to support testing needs of SAR. - (Essential)
  • 30% - Provide administrative support to SAR office including daily office maintenance - office supply and equipment supply, office filing systems; managing calendars; monitor email, phone; greeting visitors; correspondence and other communication; outreach and promotional events; assist with data collection and assessment related to service outcomes, including preparing reports, updating procedures, and program documentation. Other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
