Job Summary: This is a full-time, forty-hour-a-week position. The employee performs nightly scheduled shift(s) at the circulation service desk and course reserves service desk. The employee shares responsibility for closing the library five nights per week, Sunday through Thursday, overseeing the security of the library and student assistants at closing.

Analyzes the university course catalog each semester to determine the ordering and processing of new textbooks for the library's textbook reserve program. Works with faculty to ensure that course reserves are available for students in the most effective format possible.

Minimum Qualifications: High school graduate with two years of proven professional experience, demonstrating intermediate proficiency in the Microsoft Office software suite. Possesses a track record of excellence in customer service
Position Qualifications: Ability to work well with faculty members to provide students access to required materials. Knowledge of multiple media formats, data compression, and other streaming-related technologies. Demonstrated customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications General library knowledge. Experience working at a library service desk or with library-related systems. Some college coursework and 2+ years of appropriate experience.
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
  • 40% - Coordinates the Textbook Reserves Program to ensure the library has copies of all required undergraduate textbooks. Communicates with faculty regarding the addition of textbooks to the program. Communicates with relevant University departments to publicize the textbook program. Solicits feedback from faculty and relevant University departments to determine success of the program as well as to anticipate future needs. - (Essential)
  • 40% - Performs circulation desk duties (including, but not limited to, circulating items, supervising desk student(s), dealing with circulation problems, receiving packages, assisting patrons with locating course reserves). Oversees all circulation and library activity during the evening/late-night hours Sundays through Thursdays (including, but not limited to, dealing with building maintenance and /or building/patron security issues, ensuring building security at closing by clearing patrons out of the library, shutting down equipment, and locking and alarming all doors). This position is responsible for clearing and locking down the entire library building at closing Sundays through Thursdays. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Assists the OPS and Work Study student supervisors by ensuring evening tasks assigned to students are completed, providing training for students who primarily work evening shifts, reporting problems/issues/concerns about student work during the evening shifts to the OPS and Work Study student supervisors and the Circulation Supervisor. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Coordinates with the other circulation staff on tasks that can be completed during evening shifts. Other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
