Job Summary: This position serves as the field placement coordinator for the Department of Social Work. The position requires the coordinator to arrange field education experiences for all undergraduate and graduate social work students. The coordinator is responsible for recruiting placement sites, developing university affiliation agreements with agencies, interviewing students, completing written documentation of the student's field education experience, developing field documents, and providing training for field instructors.

Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization with one year of relevant experience or a Bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization with three years of relevant experience.
Position Qualifications: Masters in Social Work from an accredited program. Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Ability to work effectively with culturally diverse student populations. Work collaboratively in teams with colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a field director with responsibility for Bachelor in Social Work and Masters in Social Work placement. Familiarity with CSWE accreditation Capacity to foster university/community partnerships.
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
  • 60% - Recruiting Practicum Agencies- This requires meeting with agency staff, establishing affiliation agreements in cooperation with the university attorneys, meeting individually with students, and training our faculty seminar professors. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Planning and Implementing Field Instructor Training- This involves planning two orientation sessions each year for training field instructors, planning one annual supervisory training session for licensed social workers and mental health counselors resulting in state certification as “Clinical Supervisors”. The field coordination plans and delivers the content of these training initiatives - (Essential)
  • 10% - Developing and Maintaining Appropriate Records-This position is responsible for compiling academic performance in the field education programs on each student including background checks, and malpractice insurance. The coordinator also maintains statistical documents related to field education which are included in our accreditation documents. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Communication With Field Agencies- This involves regular contact with all 100+ of our field education sites including site visits in the event of student problems. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Supervising Field Liaisons (field education seminar professors who meet weekly with all students in small groups)- This involves orientation sessions at the beginning of each semester and meeting with the seminar professors to work out field education problems as they develop. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Service and Teaching are Expected The field coordinator is required to do some minimal classroom teaching and by the nature of the total position completes significant service. - (Essential)
