Senior Business Analyst – Innovation Stream
- Employment Type: Full Time (35 hours per week)
- Duration: 8 Month Contract
- Remuneration: Level 9 $148,012 - $157,056 (depending on experience) + 17% super + leave loading
- Location: UNSW Kensington Campus, with fortnightly day trips to Canberra (schedule may vary).

Why Your Role Matters:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Business Analyst with experience in planning, development and delivery of major improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO), you will be deployed to the Canberra City Program, a strategic initiative that will establish UNSW’s new presence in the nation’s capital. The program covers five key streams: Education, Innovation, Operating Model, Estate and Site Technology, building on UNSW’s defence partnerships to drive growth and innovation.
Within this role, you will work across the Innovation stream, with a focus on enabling innovation and supporting the effective onboarding of partners within the innovation ecosystem. You will play a key role in establishing the processes, frameworks and engagement approaches required to successfully support innovation initiatives and partner integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build effective relationships with stakeholders across the program and university.
- Facilitate workshops to capture innovation enablement pain points and align stakeholders.
- Lead the mapping and documentation of the innovation journey and processes
- Conduct journey mapping for onboarding of innovation partners and translate insights into practical process improvements.
- Identify and analyse opportunities to improve service delivery and the innovation partners experience.
- Develop service catalogues to clearly identify ownership across service providers.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and standardisation across processes.
- Develop process map and procedural documentation to UNSW standards.
Skills and Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualification and demonstrated experience with business requirements analysis and business process analysis using appropriate frameworks.
- Certified Practitioner in Business Analysis (IIBA or PMP).
- Demonstrated experience in applying Lean Six Sigma skills (certification desirable).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record as a lateral thinker.
- Proven facilitation skills, including workshops with diverse groups (Academics, technical staff, end users).
- Strong time management and organisational skills with the ability to deliver to project timeframes.
- Understanding of business processes within a tertiary education environment. (desirable).
- Understanding of change management principles.
- Proven experience in journey mapping and translating insights into service/process improvements.
- Strong capability in creating process maps, procedural and operational documents.
- Experience working in the innovation industry or higher education (highly desirable).
- Experience working on large, complex transformation programs in a consulting capacity.
