We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst with a strong background in translating growth and commercial strategy into operationally executable models. Reporting to the Enterprise Portfolio Management Office (EPMO), you will be embedded in the Innovation stream, playing a key role in shaping how UNSW enables innovation, scales partnerships, and operationalises its strategic ambitions.
This role is ideal for a Business Analyst who operates comfortably at the intersection of strategy, commercial intent and delivery, and who enjoys turning complex, high-level objectives into clear operating models, services and ways of working.
About the Program & Innovation Stream
The Canberra City Program spans five strategic streams: Education, Innovation, Operating Model, Estate, and Site Technology, leveraging UNSW’s strong defence and industry partnerships to drive sustainable growth.
Within the Innovation stream, the focus is on:

- Designing commercially viable partner engagement models
- Establishing repeatable, scalable approaches to onboarding and supporting partners
- Ensuring strategic growth objectives are supported by fit-for-purpose processes, services and governance
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Partner with senior stakeholders to translate growth, innovation and commercial strategies into practical operating models
- Analyse strategic objectives and commercial drivers to define how innovation initiatives and partnerships should operate in practice
- Lead the design and documentation of end-to-end innovation and partner journeys, from initial engagement through onboarding and ongoing delivery
- Facilitate workshops to explore strategic intent, test assumptions, identify constraints, and align stakeholders on future-state models
- Identify gaps between current-state capability and future growth ambitions, and develop clear, implementable improvement options
- Develop service models and service catalogues that clearly define ownership, roles and accountabilities across UNSW and external partners
- Translate qualitative insights and strategic priorities into clear business requirements, process models and procedural documentation
- Support continuous improvement, standardisation and scalability across innovation-related processes and services
- Work closely with delivery teams to ensure strategic decisions are executed effectively and embedded sustainably
About You
You bring:
- Significant experience as a Senior Business Analyst on large-scale growth, transformation or commercially focused initiatives
- A strong track record of bridging strategy and execution, particularly in complex or federated organisations
- Experience working with or supporting innovation ecosystems, partnerships, or externally facing programs
- Advanced skills in journey mapping, operating model design, process mapping and service design
- Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders to challenge assumptions and shape outcomes
- The ability to turn ambiguity into structure, and strategy into clear, actionable delivery artefacts
- Exceptional facilitation, analytical and written communication skills
Experience in higher education, public sector, or defence-related environments will be well regarded, but is not essential.
This role can be based in Sydney or Canberra and is open to Australian citizens only.
