About the role
In this role, you will be encouraged to champion creativity and bring new ideas to marketing at the City. You'll inspire creativity and innovation in the design team, and help to maintain the quality and consistency of the City’s brand, especially in its visual expression. Your work will span a range of design projects across multiple mediums, supporting communication and marketing needs. You’ll also contribute to the design of publications for print and digital platforms and mentor colleagues on effective, design-led solutions.

Classification: Band 6 commencing at $92,971 pa plus super

Key responsibilities include:

  • Drive innovation in design and branding. Create and implement cutting-edge visual concepts that challenge status quo and elevate the City’s brand across various platforms.
  • Provide specialised advice to senior leaders and peers on graphic design trends, branding strategies and visual communication best practices.
  • Design and coordinate projects from client brief and concept, through to final artwork and delivery – in accordance with team objectives.
  • Assist the marketing team to manage marketing templates and brand requirements across the organisation.
  • Mentor peers/Officers and foster a culture of creativity and excellence within the team.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant qualification in graphic design and/or significant professional experience in marketing-focused design within a creative agency or similar environment. You’ll bring extensive experience in applying professional design skills and creative problem-solving within marketing and communications contexts.

Essential Experience:

  • Demonstrated people skills to support, influence, and collaborate with relevant stakeholders.
  • Experience in the development of effective graphic design materials across multiple mediums – including traditional and emerging channels – and correct execution of formal brand management.
  • Expertise in the use of Adobe Creative Cloud apps including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Microsoft 365 is required.
  • Some professional experience in corporate marketing design.
  • Digital communication experience.
  • Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
