About the role
In this role, you will be working in the Urban Design & Place team to provide strategic, creative and spatial design advice on a diverse range of projects. You will be supporting a range of projects including the delivery of Precinct Structure Plans, Urban Design Frameworks and Structure Plans.

Classification: Band 6 $90,263-$97,365 plus superannuation
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide urban design expertise for strategic planning and design projects, precinct structure plans, masterplans, urban design frameworks and development applications, ensuring high quality design outcomes are achieved across all scales.
- Research, develop and prepare strategies, guidelines, policies and initiatives to support the delivery of a high-quality urban outcomes in growth areas and infill locations.
- Provide visually compelling communication to enable diverse audiences to imagine and realise the future opportunities for a place, neighbourhood, or a precinct.
- Contribute to project teams which include colleagues from the department and a range of disciplines from across the organisation and from external organisations and agencies.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the project objectives.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a Tertiary qualification in urban design, architecture or landscape architecture.
- Minimum three years professional experience as an urban designer, with a focus on precinct structure planning, master planning and urban design framework projects.
- A solid understanding of urban design principles, including the ability to constructively critique development proposals and the ability to input into the development of planning design policy.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Victorian planning system.
- Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
