Job Description:
Maintains standards of professional nursing practice and provides for pre and post-operative management of the person with an ostomy. Instrumental in the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers, fistulas and other skin disorders; and is a specialist in the care of patients with urinary and fecal incontinence. Provides leadership by working cooperatively with other health care professionals including provision of staff and provider education.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Active RN licensure in the State of Ohio.
2. Associates degree with current Wound Care certification required.
3. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with current Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse Certification (CWCN) preferred and at least 1 year experience in Wound Care required.
4. If BSN, certification by Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Society required. If not currently certified, must obtain within 1 year of employment.
5. Current BLS certification.
6. Ability to coordinate performance improvement projects, chair skin committee, and develop care pathways.
7. Lead education for patients and staff (Pre op/Post Op wounds and ostomies, ulcers, fistulas, and skin disorders).
8. Physical requirements:
a. visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision when applicable.
b. ability to hear (with or without aides)
c. ability to orally communicate.
d. good manual dexterity
e. ability to push, pull, roll, and transfer/lift 50 pounds occasionally.
f. Ability to stand, walk frequently.
g. ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel frequently.
h. Ability to perform CPR.
