Job Description:
The Denial Manager assumes responsibility and accountability for managing denials for third-party payers, as well as vendor denial management relations at University of Toledo Medical Center. This includes overseeing the denial process used by both in-house staff and affiliated denial management vendors, and continually working to identify opportunities for workflow improvements. The manager collaborates with the Patient Financial Assistance Director and other team members to set departmental goals, measure process effectiveness and productivity, and identify any need for updated policies and procedures. Reporting to the Patient Financial Services Director, the Denial Manager serves as a liaison to revenue cycle staff, clinical departments, payers, and patients by ensuring effective communication between all parties.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Active RN licensure in state of Ohio Preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in a clinical setting.
• Experience in denial reduction and or UR process improvements with proven results.
• Experience with hospital or professional billing.
• Federal and state regulations related to denials and appeals.
• Ability to take initiative by identifying problems, conceptualizing resolutions, and implementing change.
• Possesses efficient time-management skills and proven ability to multitask under tight deadlines.
• Demonstrates excellent leadership, conflict-resolution, and customer service skills.
• Exceptional writing and communication skills
• Strong comfort level with computer systems
