Job Description:

The University of Toledo invites applications for an Assistant Lecturer of Ceramics to start August 19, 2025. The position is an Assistant Lecturer of Ceramics position. Candidates must have taught all ceramic techniques including: hand building, wheel throwing, mold making, glaze making, 3D ceramic printing, and slip casting. They must also be familiar with firing techniques including reduction, oxidation, sawdust and raku firings. The Lecturer must maintain a clean, well-equipped studio and have experience with: kiln care, construction, repair and operation, kiln shelf/furniture care, and other machinery (3D clay printer, clay mixer, pug mill, spray booth, standing-kick and electric wheels), safe mineral and chemical stocking/supply, inventory, glaze chemistry and clay body formulation. Inclusive thinking, diverse viewpoints & multiple methods of content delivery is a must.

Minimum Qualifications:

• MFA in Art
• Record of exhibitions/professional accomplishments
• Experience teaching Ceramic classes/evidence of studio maintenance and familiarity with new technologies for use in the creation of clay artworks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with interdisciplinary projects
• Experience mentoring first generation and underrepresented minority college students.
