Job Description:

The Pulmonary Function Technologist should have acquired knowledge and experience in clinical pulmonary function testing. He/she should be well motivated to work independently with patients on an individual basis, with a thorough knowledge of test procedures. They must possess good interpersonal skills in order to communicate with the best interest of the patient in mind and according to their age.

The Pulmonary Function Technologist must demonstrate clinical application and theoretical knowledge consistent with the current literature and accepted practice of the profession, in the principles of cardiopulmonary disease and appropriate treatment, over the life span of the patient.

Minimum Qualifications:

Respiratory Care Practitioner Advanced (U39)
​Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), as recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
​Current State Medical Board of Ohio Respiratory Care Professional license.
​CPR and BLS Certified through the American Heart Association. Certification must be active at time of hire and maintained throughout employment in position.

Communication and other skills:
Shall be in good physical and mental health.
​Shall be able to work all shifts with some rotation.

Physical Requirements:
​Visual acuity of 20/20 or corrected to 20/20 including color vision, where applicable: constant 67-100%
​ability to hear, with or without aides: constant 67-100%
​ability to orally communicate: constant 67-100%
​good manual dexterity: constant 67-100%
​ability to push, pull, roll, transfer/lift 50 pounds occasionally: constant 67-100%
​ability to stand/walk frequently: constant 67-100%
​ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel frequently: constant 67-100%
​ability to perform CPR: constant 67-100%

Current State Medical Board of Ohio license Respiratory Care Professional license.

Eligible for the National Board for Respiratory Care Certification exam or is enrolled and in good standing in an A.M.A. approved respiratory care program – required.
Current State of Ohio Respiratory Medical Board License: Limited Permit – required
CPR and BLS Certified through the American Heart Association. Certification must be active at time of hire and maintained throughout employment in position.

Required Communication and other skills:

Shall be able to work all shifts with some rotation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), as recognized by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• One year of experience in performing pulmonary function testing desired.
• Registered/Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT/CPFT) preferred.
• In lieu of RPFT/CPFT credential, must attain either the RPFT or, at a minimum, CPFT credential within 12 months following completion of pulmonary function orientation and training.
• Current State Medical Board of Ohio Respiratory Care Professional license.
• CPR and BLS Certified through the American Heart Association. Certification must be active at time of hire and maintained throughout employment in position.
