Job Description:
The Infection Control Preventionist is trained in principles of epidemiology and surveillance, and is
responsible for participating in the surveillance, analysis, and reporting of health care related infections,
education of staff, students, volunteers and faculty on reducing the risk of infection and the development
of health system policies and procedures to insure rigorous infection prevention and control standards
that meet the Joint Commission, OSHA, Public Health Department, and Center for Disease Control
(CDC) recommendations.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education/experience/licensing:
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with an active Ohio RN License required (MSN Preferred).
• Master’s degree in a health-related field (i.e. MPH) can be accepted in lieu of a BSN/MSN and RN license.
• Three (3) years’ experience in Infection Prevention and Control required.
• Certification in Infection Control (CIC) at time of hire or must be obtained within two (2) years of hire
required.
Communication and other skills:
• Competent in word processing, Excel, Power Point, Database, data entry, general office skills.
• Competent with classroom and equipment coordination for presentations.
