Job Description:

This specialist role is responsible for performing specific functions related to the activity of the University of Toledo benefit programs. This position provides information to employees regarding routine and nonroutine benefits, including retirement, compensation, and LOA programs. This position will be the main point of contact for the University retirement plan administration. This role conducts individual sessions and group benefits reviews, maintains records, and prepares necessary documents.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field or five (5) years of applicable experience in lieu of higher education required.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in HR, preferable at the exempt level.
• Very strong organizational skills to maintain records, data, and meet deadlines is required.
• Excellent written & verbal communication as well as presentation skills required.
• A strong desire and willingness to pursue excellence in customer service and demonstrate passion in creating an outstanding customer experience for some of the most vulnerable UToledo employees is required.
• Technically proficient with Microsoft Office with ability to create complex reports using Excel (modeling scenarios, complex formulas, pivot tables, v-lookup, data validation etc.) is required.
• Experience in gathering and organizing data and generating reports is required.
• Knowledge of HR programs and services with functional knowledge of two (2) areas in HR is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Human Resource experience in both public and private.
• Benefits experience in an academic or hospital environment.
• Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification
