Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Maintain current inventories of laboratory supplies, equipment, technologies, and software to ensure accessibility and functionality for faculty and students.
• Inventory, organize, and monitor expendable laboratory supplies on a regular basis and submit timely requests for needed materials to support program operations.
• Prepare laboratory equipment, supplies, reagents, and learning stations for instructional and student laboratory use.
• Develop, implement, and maintain laboratory policy and procedure manuals in accordance with program, institutional, and regulatory standards.
• Perform and document routine quality control, calibration, and maintenance procedures on laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Coordinate equipment service contracts, vendor relationships, repairs, and preventative maintenance for laboratory instrumentation and technologies.
• Uphold laboratory quality assurance and safety standards, including compliance with biohazard disposal, infection control, and waste management regulations.
• Coordinate with college maintenance services and external vendors to maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within laboratory facilities.
• Collaborate with the Program Director and faculty to develop laboratory schedules that maximize utilization of laboratory spaces and resources.
• Work collaboratively with faculty to identify laboratory needs that support curriculum design, instructional effectiveness, and student learning outcomes.
• Coordinate and maintain relationships with clinical education sites to support student clinical placement experiences and program needs.
• Assist with communication and coordination between the college and clinical affiliates to ensure successful clinical experiences for students.
• Collaborate with the Program Director, faculty, and community partners to develop innovative laboratory and clinical learning opportunities throughout the academic year.
• Assist with recruitment activities by collaborating with the Program Director to provide laboratory tours and informational experiences for prospective students.
• Teach a yearly instructional load of 24 credit hours, typically 12 credit hours per semester of Medical Laboratory Technician coursework, including lecture and/or laboratory instruction as assigned.
• Demonstrate and adhere to the LDCC Standards of Practice.

Required Education: The minimum qualifications for this faculty position require a Bachelor's degree in Medical Lab Sciences or a related field from a regionally accredited institution. The candidate must possess professional experience working in medical laboratory settings, demonstrating expertise across core disciplines such as clinical chemistry, microbiology, hematology, and blood banking. Essential skills include basic computer literacy and proficiency in utilizing instructional technologies and software to enhance the teaching and learning environment. The ideal candidate must exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively engage and support students from diverse backgrounds, alongside a clear dedication to student success and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Furthermore, the applicant must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and industry partners to promote program excellence and student achievement, and show a proven commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning within the field of medical lab sciences. Finally, teaching experience at the post-secondary level is preferred but not required, particularly within a community college or similar educational setting.
