Duties and Responsibilities: 

Work Habits: 20%
• Operational & Instructional Oversight: Oversee day-to-day Adult Education operations with a focus on instructional delivery, classroom effectiveness, and student engagement across all sites.
• Instructional Strategy & Curriculum Alignment: Guide the implementation of instructional strategies that support skill progression, literacy advancement, and workforce readiness. Ensure curriculum delivery is aligned with student needs, abilities, and program outcomes.
• Program Delivery & Accessibility: Ensure Adult Education programming is delivered in formats that maximize access and affordability, including flexible scheduling, varied delivery modes, and alignment to community and student demand.
• Policy & Program Guidance: Advise leadership on state and federal policies impacting adult learners with low literacy or no high school diploma, ensuring program design supports equitable access and success.

• Commitment to Instructional Excellence: Promote high-quality teaching and learning environments that are structured, engaging, and responsive to adult learners. Demonstrates working knowledge of all systems, platforms and software implemented by the college or division.
• Student-Centered Approach: Support learning facilitators by ensuring programming and instructional practices reflect the diverse needs, abilities, and goals of Adult Education students.
• Professionalism & Consistency: Maintain consistent expectations for instructional quality, classroom management, and student engagement across all instructors and sites. Exercises discretion with sensitive data. Maintains complete, current, and well- organized records. Escalates issues with proposed solutions. Manages workload effectively. Anticipates changes to campus operations and ensures minimal disruption. Communicate professionally with all internal and external stakeholders.

Institutional Support: 20%
• Pathway Integration: Support the vision of and assist the Director of Continuing Education’s with integration of Continuing Education (CE) pathways within Adult Education to create clear transitions into workforce training and credential attainment.
• Program Alignment & Access: Collaborate with internal teams to ensure Adult Education offerings are aligned with workforce demand while remaining accessible to public students, contracted company training, prison training, and high school students; by maintaining a pool of qualified instructors and relevant teaching materials.
• Student Placement & Progression: Support the Data and Performance Manager in student placement processes to ensure alignment between student skill levels, learning needs, and appropriate instructional environments for academic success.

Team Relations: 20%
• Instructor Supervision & Leadership: Provide direct supervision of Adult Education instructors, ensuring alignment with instructional standards, program expectations, program capacity, and student success goals.
• Instructor Evaluation & Coaching: Conduct regular classroom observations and evaluations, providing coaching and feedback to strengthen instructional effectiveness and student outcomes by hosting at least 2 professional development events per year.
• Instructional Quality Assurance: Ensure instructors deliver content effectively, utilizing appropriate teaching strategies, integrating workforce micro credentials and maintaining learning environments that support persistence and achievement towards passing the Hi-Set, increasing literacy and/or job obtainment.
• Staff Coordination: Align instructor expertise, availability, and scheduling with student needs to optimize instructional delivery and program effectiveness.

Leadership: 20%
• Instructional Leadership: Lead the Director of Continuing Education’s vision of continuous improvement of instructional practices to strengthen student learning, retention, and progression.
• Access & Equity Focus: Implement changes to the delivery models that expand access for adult learners, particularly those facing barriers related to cost, scheduling, or academic readiness.
• Student Success & Outcomes: Ensure systems are in place in collaboration with the Data and Performance Manager to support student persistence, measurable skill gains, and successful transition into workforce or academic pathways through instruction and student placement.

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Master’s degree in education, Mathematics, English, or other academic disciplines.
• Minimum of 3 years progressive leadership experience in continuing education, adult education, workforce development, or related field which includes 2 years' of experience teaching adult learners or at-risk youth and students with exceptionalities enrolled in an adult education program or secondary institution.
• Demonstrated experience, managing classroom management, curriculum and instruction, and student discipline or behavior.

 

Required Licenses or Certifications: 

Valid, unencumbered driver's license

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience working within community college systems and Adult Education grant environments.
• Strong knowledge of workforce pathways, credentialing, and employer engagement strategies.
