Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership and strategic direction for AWS testing and certification programs
• Ensure compliance with AWS standards, procedures, and accreditation requirements
• Oversee the administration of AWS Certified Welder Program.
• Manage testing schedules, facilities, equipment, and personnel to ensure efficient operations
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for audits and reporting purposes
• Train, supervise, and evaluate testing staff, proctors, and evaluators
• Serve as the primary point of contact with AWS and other regulatory or accrediting bodies
• Develop and maintain partnerships with local industry to support workforce needs
• Monitor program performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and best practices within testing environments
• Adheres to the LDCC’s Standards of Practice
• Any other duties as assigned.
Required Education:
Qualifications:
Personnel shall have the necessary education, training, technical knowledge, and experience for their functions. The minimum personnel requirements for the Test Facility shall include:
• The inspection and testing services of the Test Facility shall be under the direction of a person charged with technical managerial responsibility. They shall be a full-time employee of the Test Facility and shall have at least five (5) years of technical experience in inspection and testing of welders.
• Welder qualification tests performed by an Accredited Test Facility for the AWS Certified Welder program shall be administered by a Qualifier who is currently certified as a Certified Welding Inspector according to AWS Standard QC47.
• Demonstrated experience in welding, fabrication, inspection, or industrial maintenance environments is required.
• Strong working knowledge of Welding codes, such as but not limited to AWS, ASME IX, and API 1104.
• Proven leadership and supervisory experience in testing, training, or an industrial setting
• Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills
• Ability to maintain compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements
Work Environment:
• Combination of office, classroom, and hands-on shop/testing lab environments
• Requires adherence to PPE and industrial safety standards
• May involve occasional travel for training, audits, or industry engagement.
• May include other duties as required.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand for extended periods in shop or testing environments
• Ability to lift moderate weight (up to 50 lbs) as needed
• Capability to work in industrial conditions including heat, noise, and confined spaces
