Duties and Responsibilities:
Work Habits - 50%
• Execute strategic communications, marketing, and branding initiatives that enhance awareness of South Louisiana Community College and support institutional recruitment and enrollment goals.
• Assist the Director in the planning, implementation, and assessment of communications and marketing strategies that support institutional priorities.
• Manage day-to-day digital marketing operations, including social media management, website updates, and online content development.
• Serve as an account manager for projects initiated by departments and programs, guiding requests from concept through delivery to ensure alignment with brand standards and strategic priorities.
• Develop and publish content across social media channels that reflects institutional values, showcases student and community success stories, and drives engagement.
• Coordinate paid digital media campaigns in collaboration with the Director of Strategic Communications to advance enrollment and program visibility.
• Maintain the College’s websites and related digital properties, ensuring accuracy, functionality, and brand consistency.
• Collect, analyze, and report on performance metrics for digital platforms, providing insights to inform strategic planning and optimization.
• Coordinate with freelance and vendor partners for creative projects, including photography, videography, and design services.
• Supervise, train, and mentor student workers/interns, providing clear direction, task assignments, and performance feedback to ensure effective project execution and professional growth.
• Remain current with marketing and communications best practices, trends, and emerging technologies relevant to higher education.
• Contribute to the development and evaluation of departmental goals, performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Institutional Support - 20%
• Provide communications and marketing support for major College events, including Graduation, Preview Days, Community College Week, and other public or recruitment-driven activities.
• Participate in committees, task forces, and cross-functional initiatives to advance institutional goals and promote collaboration.
• Support compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations governing public communications, intellectual property, and trademark use.
• Ensure web accessibility compliance in accordance with ADA guidelines, including monitoring content and providing recommendations for updates.
• Support vendor coordination and monitor project-related expenditures under the direction of the Director of Strategic Communications.
• Serve as acting departmental lead in the absence of the Director, when assigned, to ensure continuity of operations.
Team Relations - 15%
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with departments across the College to effectively identify needs and deliver high-quality communications solutions.
• Provide brand management support, ensuring consistent application of SoLAcc’s visual identity and messaging.
• Contribute to departmental training, resources, and toolkits that enhance communication capacity across the institution.
• Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that reflects the College’s commitment to student success and community engagement.
• Support professional development initiatives, including developing and delivering training opportunities or resources to enhance communications and marketing skills across the department and broader institutional staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Three years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field.
• Demonstrated success in planning and executing integrated marketing and communications initiatives.
• Experience building relationships with internal and external constituents.
• Experience developing and implementing marketing or communications strategies that support organizational goals and drive measurable results.
• Hands-on experience with social media management, Google Analytics, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), web accessibility best practices, content management systems, and other digital marketing tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with paid digital advertising campaigns and recruitment-focused marketing initiatives.
• Marketing and/or communications experience in a higher education setting.
