Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Training Program Development
• Collaborate with the Workforce Division to design and develop comprehensive energy and utility training programs.
• Assess industry trends and workforce needs to ensure curriculum relevance and alignment with NCCER and OSHA standards.
• Update instructional materials, lesson plans, and assessments to reflect current technology, tools, and best practices.
• Support the overall objectives and workforce mission of Louisiana Delta Community College.
2. Training Delivery
• Conduct engaging and interactive instruction in NCCER Power Line Worker and related courses.
• Deliver OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour Construction Safety, AHA BLS, NSC Forklift, Staking University Line Locating, and OSHA Competent Person training.
• Utilize various instructional methods and technologies to enhance learning outcomes.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and safety-focused learning environment that promotes participation and collaboration.
• Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and support their career readiness.
3. Technical Skills Development
• Instruct and demonstrate the safe and proper use of tools, equipment, and machinery used in power line and energy work.
• Teach essential field skills including pole climbing, rigging, transformer installation, and power line maintenance.
• Emphasize adherence to safety standards, PPE requirements, and regulatory compliance throughout training.
• Facilitate hands-on lab exercises, fieldwork, and real-world simulations.
4. Safety and Compliance
• Promote a strong safety culture in every aspect of instruction and field activity.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, NCCER safety requirements, and Louisiana Delta Community College policies.
• Incorporate emergency response procedures, hazard recognition, and risk management into the curriculum.
5. Documentation and Reporting
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, performance, and certifications in accordance with LDCC policy.
• Prepare training reports and program evaluations for Workforce Division leadership.
• Track student credentialing and support NCCER registry submissions and documentation.
6. Industry and Community Engagement
• Build and maintain relationships with employers, industry partners, and community stakeholders to support program development and graduate placement.
• Represent LDCC Workforce and Economic Development programs at job fairs, community events, and industry meetings.
Working Conditions:
• Combination of classroom, lab, and outdoor field environments.
• Exposure to typical construction and utility worksite conditions.
• Must be able to climb poles, lift up to 75 lbs, and demonstrate proper safety procedures.
*This position will require travel regionally to deliver instructional programs, but will be domiciled on the Winnsboro Campus.
Required Education:
• Minimum of eight (8) years of professional field experience.
• Solid knowledge and experience in power line or energy utility construction, maintenance, and repair.
• NCCER Certified Instructor (or ability to become certified).
• Current instructor or trainer credentials in or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
o OSHA Authorized Trainer (Construction 10/30)
o AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
o NSC Forklift Safety
o Staking University Line Locating
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices in the energy and power line industry.
• Excellent instructional, presentation, and communication skills.
• Organizational and time management skills to manage multiple training sessions and reporting tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in curriculum design, instructional delivery, or workforce training.
• Familiarity with NCCER accreditation and performance assessments.
• Certification or coursework in instructional design, education, or workforce development
