Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership:
• Provide Leadership for Healthcare Programs: Lead the development and implementation of healthcare workforce programs, ensuring they align with regional and national healthcare needs. Foster a collaborative, student-centered culture within the department.
• Strategic Planning and Oversight: Develop and implement short- and long-term strategies to advance the goals of the healthcare workforce programs. Work with senior leadership to ensure alignment with SoLAcc's broader strategic objectives.
• Faculty and Staff Development: Supervise and support faculty and staff in healthcare programs, including providing professional development opportunities and fostering a collaborative environment. Act as a mentor to instructors to ensure high teaching standards and student success.
• Collaboration with Campus and Division Leadership: Work closely with the Vice President and other deans, faculty, and staff across departments to create a cohesive educational experience that integrates workforce needs with academic rigor.
Administrative Operations:
• Program Administration and Management: Oversee the daily operations of all healthcare workforce programs, including scheduling, curriculum implementation, staffing, budget management, and resource allocation.
• Accreditation and Compliance: Ensure all healthcare programs meet accreditation standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., JCAHO, CAAHEP, State of Louisiana). Maintain up-to-date documentation and work with accreditation bodies.
• Budget and Resource Management: Prepare and manage program budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources. Monitor expenditures, implement cost-control measures, and ensure alignment with department goals.
• Data Management and Reporting: Oversee the collection and analysis of program data, including student enrollment, completion rates, employment outcomes, and program effectiveness. Provide regular reports to the Vice President and other stakeholders.
Programmatic:
• Curriculum Development and Enhancement: Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of healthcare workforce programs, ensuring they reflect industry trends and workforce needs. Collaborate with faculty to review and update curricula regularly.
• Student Success Initiatives: Implement student-centered strategies to support retention, success, and completion rates in healthcare programs. Work with faculty to provide academic support services such as tutoring, advising, and career counseling.
• Workforce Alignment: Collaborate with healthcare employers and industry leaders to ensure the college's programs meet regional workforce needs. Work with healthcare partners to develop customized training programs and certifications for specific employer needs.
• Internship and Clinical Placements: Oversee the development and management of internship and clinical placement opportunities for students, ensuring they receive real-world experience that enhances their learning and career readiness.
Institutional Effectiveness:
• Assessment and Continuous Improvement: Implement and lead the assessment of healthcare workforce programs. Use data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement, and lead initiatives to enhance program effectiveness and student outcomes.
• Program Evaluation: Regularly evaluate the success of healthcare programs in terms of student achievement, employment outcomes, and employer satisfaction. Make recommendations for program modifications based on evaluation results.
• Accreditation and Compliance Oversight: Manage the process of program accreditation and ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and institutional standards in collaboration with the Dean of Nursing. Lead efforts to maintain accreditation for healthcare programs.
• Professional Development: Lead efforts to ensure faculty and staff are well-supported through continuous professional development opportunities, keeping up with advancements in the healthcare field and pedagogical best practices.
External and Business Relations:
• Community and Industry Engagement: Act as a liaison between SoLACC and the healthcare industry, fostering partnerships with hospitals, healthcare providers, and other organizations. Build and maintain relationships to ensure alignment between program offerings and local workforce needs.
• Employer Partnerships and Job Placement: Cultivate relationships with healthcare employers to develop opportunities for students and alumni, such as internships, job placements, and workforce training partnerships.
• Collaboration with Community Stakeholders: Engage with local healthcare organizations, government agencies, and other educational institutions to promote workforce development in healthcare and to ensure alignment with regional economic and workforce goals.
• Grant Writing and Fundraising: Assist in identifying and securing funding opportunities, including grants and corporate sponsorships, to support the development and expansion of healthcare programs. Work with the Vice President to secure external funding sources.
Required Education:
Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in education or workforce development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role in healthcare education or workforce training. Experience in program management, curriculum development, healthcare administration, economic development or workforce partnerships, particularly within the healthcare sector.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Must be able to demonstrate the proven abilities of intellectual reasoning, power of persuasion, and consistent dedication to the position.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical interference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
High Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). Ability to learn to operate College-specific software and applications.
Other Qualifications: Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to multi-task.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
Criminal Background Clearance.
Preferred Education:
Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Nursing, or a related field.
Preferred Experience:
Nursing instructor for higher ed or talent acquisition for hospital.
