Duties and Responsibilities: • Acts as chief advocate for the CDL program and presents a positive image of the CDL program and the College to both internal and external customers
• Meets regularly with the Director of Operations to communicate all activities within area of responsibility
• Assists with recruitment efforts for the CDL program and coordinates with other Workforce Solutions staff members as well as institutional advancement and financial aid teams
• Assures that promotional material (including website) is current, accurate and available
• Schedules course sections to align with employment opportunities provided by business and industry partners
• Conduct behind-the-wheel training and evaluate student progression on a consistent basis. Ensure that each driver masters the functions of all driving functions, including lane control, shifting, axle weights, etc.
• Coordinates resources as necessary to keep course on schedule
• Develop or support the development of curriculum as needed
• Specifies equipment and supplies to be ordered within an established budget and in compliance with State and College regulations
• Monitors equipment and maintains an inventory of equipment and supplies
• Cleans, adjusts, and repairs equipment as needed
• Ensures a neat, well-organized, and safe office, classroom, and laboratory environment
• Assists with the budgeting process
• Collaborates with instructor(s) to maintain the membership of an active and engaged program advisory committee
• Plans, chairs, and ensures the documentation of advisory committee meetings twice each year
• Effectively communicates advisory committee recommendations
• Performs other work as assigned
Required Education: • High school Diploma or GED equivalent.
Required Experience: • Current CDL (Class A) license and 3+ consecutive years of recent truck driving experience required.
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures related to FMCSA and DOT.
• National and Regional Accreditation standards related to CVO Driver Training.
• Effectively evaluate situations and make decisions
• Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with a diverse group of individuals, both internally and externally
• Maintain a task orientation and a high attention to detail
• Communicate effectively and efficiently both written and verbally
Required Licenses or Certifications: • CDL Class A
Preferred Education: • Associates Degree’s from an accredited college or university
