Job Summary: The Associate Dean reports to the Executive Dean and works closely with and support assigned faculty and staff within their unit in the School of Business, Technology and Industry. The Associate Dean will ensure that assigned academic and instructional services are of high quality, effective for student learning and responsive to the college and community. The Associate Dean will support the Executive Dean with the School’s unit planning, program evaluation, identifying new program initiatives, development of funding sources such as grants, outreach, enrollment management and interdisciplinary initiatives.

The Associate Dean will participate in the shared governance of the college; and contribute positively to HACC's intellectual and collegial atmosphere. The Associate Dean represents the unit in institutional activities and initiatives, works with colleagues from other educational organizations, businesses and community organizations.

Under the direction of the Executive Dean, the Dean provides leadership and oversight for Business and Computer disciplines within the School of Business, Technology, and Industry. The Associate Dean has first-line responsibilities for all employees within their assigned area, contributes to the unit's annual budget planning, manages assigned budgets, and oversees the development of the unit schedule and the class assignment of faculty, staff, and faculty evaluations. The Associate Dean facilitates the development of new programs and the ongoing assessment of existing programs and curricula.
 

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree and 5 years experience.*Or a combination of experience and education sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Licensing Requirements: Valid driver's license.

Hiring Range: $75,640 - $96,441

Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have experience in business, information systems, artificial intelligence, cyber security, or a related discipline, along with a background in academic leadership, program development, and fostering partnerships with industry and community stakeholders. This position requires a collaborative leader who can drive innovation, support faculty, and enhance student outcomes.

Essential Duties of the Dean:

  • Coordinating the development of and implementing the college’s Mission, Vision and Value Statement - (Essential)
  • Leading college efforts toward achieving Strategic goals; • Developing and managing instructional budgets - (Essential)
  • Managing the fiscal affairs of the assigned unit; • Facilitate the faculty tenure process, including recommendation(s), and promotion - (Essential)
  • Contribute to the School’s strategic objectives and planning at the operational level - (Essential)
  • Supervising, evaluating, and supporting instructional units in a manner that promotes excellence in academic, scholarly and creative productivity and service at the college - (Essential)
  • Contribute to the School and support coordinating the governance of the college - (Essential)
  • Leading the processes of selection and overseeing faculty and staff selection and retention within assigned School unit - (Essential)
  • Evaluate assigned academic and technical programs, faculty and staff - (Essential)
  • Evaluate academic and technical programs productivity, enrollments, and service responsibilities for efficiency and deficiencies. - (Essential)
  • Facilitate the sustaining of high quality academic and technical programs through engaging industry advisory and business associations and/or apprenticeship councils - (Essential)
  • Develop and manage articulation and transfer agreements - (Essential)
  • Assist in content management of website, schedule, and catalogs as these pertain to the specific School and workforce development initiatives. - (Essential)
  • Adhere to bargain union agreement, and constructively approach and resolve issues that arise within an organized labor work environment; - (Essential)
  • Assessment Activities:
  • Conduct ongoing evaluation of academic/technical instructional programs - (Essential)
  • Identify emergent needs - (Essential)
  • Use data to support and inform decision-making - (Essential)
  • Collaborate with faculty and advisory committees to conduct ongoing curriculum development, assessment, and revision to reflect innovative pedagogy and advances in technical disciplines - (Essential)
  • Work with faculty, and Department Chairs to ensure the quality and integrity of program learning outcomes including general education outcomes and employment - (Essential)
  • Complete annual faculty and staff evaluations while providing timely feedback - (Essential)
  • Contribute to the Executive Dean review and analyze of enrollment, retention, and completion data, including annual program reviews - (Essential)
  • Select indicators and tools to assess instructional efforts and assist all stakeholders in improvement efforts;
  • Create periodic reports that meet college, accreditation, and other stakeholder interest in areas related to the School of Business, Technology and Industry. - (Essential)
