The Opportunity
The Faculty of Law is seeking a CLC Family Lawyer / Lecturer (Education-Focused) to advance innovative, practice-based legal education through a partnership with ARC Justice in Bendigo. This position exists to strengthen experiential learning in family law, connect academic programs with community legal practice, and enhance educational excellence for students engaged in regional and rural justice contexts.
ARC Justice is an independent, for-purpose, human rights organisation incorporating the Loddon Campaspe Community Legal Centre, the Goulburn Valley Community Legal Centre and Housing Justice. The programs of ARC Justice deliver accessible legal services, tenancy advice, and support to people in regional and rural Victoria who experience disadvantage relating to their housing, family, relationship, consumer, economic, social, and civil rights. ARC Justice engages with the communities across a broad catchment of thirteen local government areas to understand their challenges and priorities
In this role, you will prepare and deliver clinical legal education units, supervise students in their placements, and assess their learning outcomes while ensuring legal services are provided in line with professional and organisational standards. You will contribute to the development of experiential learning initiatives, maintain a client caseload at ARC Justice, and engage with partners to enhance clinical opportunities, law reform advocacy, and the broader functioning of the community legal centre.
As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate a proven track record in delivering legal assistance to disadvantaged clients, particularly in family law, and the ability to engage effectively with people experiencing complex vulnerabilities. You will bring professional expertise to inform curriculum, foster collaborative partnerships, and contribute to academic and scholarly activities. Strong planning, organisational, and leadership abilities, combined with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, are essential for thriving in this role.
