Job Description:

This role oversees all the advising in their assigned college(s) and student services. This position provides leadership and direction to the department staff and is responsible for implementing the Academic Advising strategic plan. This role is responsible for decision making at the college(s) level for both academic and non-academic issues as well as implementing and monitoring University & college policies. This role is the liaison to the provost office for their college(s) advising strategy and collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience with University Software related to advising is required.
• Experience as a higher education advisor is required.
• Ability to analyze course prerequisites, certification, and/or curriculum/graduation requirements.
• Demonstrated passion for student success, including both traditional and non-traditional students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
• Ability to initiate conceptual ideas with practical applications.
• Dedication to maintaining knowledge of trends, issues, and accepted practices relevant to the position as established by national professional organizations.
• Excellent oral, written, and electronic communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, including but not limited to ability to collaborate with other offices when necessary.
• Ability to work independently and without error.
• High ethical standards and fairness

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree preferred.
Three (3) years leadership experience in a college advising office is preferred.
Experience in managing a function or program is preferred.
