Job Description:
The Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology is searching for an Assistant Professor to provide direct patient care and instruct current medical students, residents, and fellows within the discipline of endocrinology. The Division of Endocrinology is highly active in serving the communities of Northwestern Ohio and Southeastern Michigan, providing the highest quality care. The successful candidate will work alongside a diverse group of providers, each with unique multidisciplinary backgrounds. Research and education are important aspects to the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. The Division of Endocrinology is devoted to education through innovative research in the field of medicine that focuses on the endocrine system and its diseases.
Responsibilities:
- Provides direct patient care in endocrinology; instructs medical students and residents in the discipline of Endocrinology; participates in conferences, conducts, and develops research grants and proposals.
- Work with the endocrinology healthcare team to provide patients with endocrinology medical care services within the standard of care for endocrinology patients.
- Adhere to departmental policies, procedures and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state health information privacy laws.
- Participate in the teaching programs of the Department of Medicine, the College of Medicine, and the University.
- Conduct independent research in line with the goals of the Department of Medicine including maintaining a strong record of accomplishments and the ability to secure external funding that will provide salary support as Principal Investigator or Co- Principal Investigator and support research efforts and projects. Publish in peer-reviewed literature as first or co-author.
Minimum Qualifications:
- MD or equivalent required; successful completion of an Endocrinology fellowship; board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine; current licensure in the State of Ohio required, prior to beginning the position.
- Ability to successfully teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows within the discipline of endocrinology.
- Experience in working as a team of healthcare professionals and collaborating with them to ensure positive, effective patient experiences with our organization.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
