Established in 2006, UWF Explore Camps is an academic-based summer camp program offering a variety of summer camp themes each week from Explore Hogwarts to LEGO Robotics. Summer camp assistants work with lead instructors to deliver hands-on, fun experiences to youth aged 5-17. A mixture of STEAM-based academics plus a creative atmosphere results in a one-of-a-kind summer camp (STEAM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, art, and math). Working with Explore Camps provides camp assistants with a unique and meaningful summer job experience. The program starts June 2nd and ends August 8th. Job Duties: 1. Work in a classroom with a lead instructor to support the instructor in leading the camp theme each week. This can include preparing and cleaning up materials, assisting with classroom management and supervision, and actively interacting with campers to assist them with activities. 2. Work with others to lead and supervise group activities during free time and extended care. This can include leading indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts, and participating in or leading group activities. 3. Ensure inclusion of all campers in daily activities. 4. Create a fun and inviting space for all campers. 5. Establish a positive relationship with other staff, parents, and participants. Provide parents, instructors, or camp leadership with feedback on campers as needed. 6. Provide positive leadership and be a role model. 7. Ensure the safety and well-being of participants by being aware of participant locations at all times, sharing and enforcing appropriate safety regulations and procedures, and identifying and responding to camper behavior issues. 8. Assist in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports and daily attendance.
