The Education Development Manager plays a key role within the Faculty of Science by providing leadership and strategic thinking in the development and implementation of innovative learning practices. The role entails leading the Educational Development team to design and develop quality learning activities, modules, programs and courses in collaboration with academic staff to support local implementation of learning and teaching strategies across the Faculty of Science.

Specific responsibilities for this role include:
- Lead and develop a high-performing Education Development team, providing clear direction, coaching and performance management to build capability, foster engagement and deliver high-quality educational outcomes.
- Provide strategic leadership for education development across the Faculty, acting as a key liaison with Schools, Faculty stakeholders and central university teams on systems, initiatives and priorities that support learning and teaching.
- Represent the Faculty of Science on relevant University committees, working groups, workshops and forums, contributing expertise and ensuring Faculty priorities and perspectives are effectively represented.
- Partner with academic staff to design, develop and enhance undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum, ensuring learning activities, assessment and feedback are aligned, inclusive, accessible and informed by effective pedagogical practice.
- Lead the design and development of high-quality learning activities, modules, programs and courses, applying evidence-informed approaches to improve student engagement, learning outcomes and the overall quality of teaching across the Faculty.
- Provide expert advice and consultation to academic and professional staff on curriculum design, educational technologies, teaching practice and the implementation of innovative and effective approaches to learning and teaching.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across Schools, the Faculty and the wider University, facilitating collaboration and supporting the successful implementation of Faculty and University education strategies.
- Lead the development of reporting, evaluation and continuous improvement processes, providing high-quality analysis, insights and recommendations to support decision-making and educational priorities, including those of the Deputy Dean (Education).
- Provide high-level strategic and policy advice to the Deputy Dean (Education), Associate Deans, Faculty leadership and School teaching committees on emerging issues, educational priorities and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and oversee effective stakeholder communications, ensuring education development initiatives, projects, priorities and outcomes are communicated clearly and consistently to relevant internal and external audiences.
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of Faculty-wide education initiatives and projects, ensuring activities are appropriately scoped, prioritised and delivered in alignment with strategic objectives.
- Champion a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement in learning and teaching, identifying emerging practices and opportunities that enhance the student and staff experience.
- Align with and actively demonstrate the Code of Conduct and Values.
- Ensure hazards and risks psychosocial and physical are identified and controlled for tasks, projects, and activities that pose a health and safety risk within your area of responsibility.
About the successful applicant

To be successful in this role you will have:
- Relevant degree with extensive relevant experience, or equivalent competency gained through any other combination of education, training or experience in a higher education organisation.
- Extensive experience in educational design and/or development, including end-to-end course design following constructive alignment principles and a strong understanding of the Technology-Enabled Learning and Teaching (TELT) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) landscape.
- Well-developed leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and manage staff through change and ambiguity.
- Demonstrated experience in driving innovation and process improvement initiatives in a complex environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
- Sound stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior management and liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
- Excellent time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health & safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
