About the Role

The Senior Project Officer, UNSW Online plays an important role in supporting the delivery, coordination and continuous improvement of UNSW Online programs within the Lifelong Learning unit. By contributing to Lifelong Learning at UNSW, this role enables Progress for All by expanding access to flexible, high-quality education for learners at different stages of their careers.

Working closely with the Operations Manager, UNSW Online, this role provides practical and efficient coordination, administration and operational support across program delivery, course administration, stakeholder engagement, reporting, scheduling and educational activity coordination. The role helps ensure UNSW Online programs are delivered smoothly, consistently and in line with university processes, quality expectations and a high-quality student experience.

This position is ideal for a highly organised, collaborative and proactive professional who enjoys working in a growing, dynamic environment and contributing to meaningful lifelong learning initiatives.

The Senior Project Officer, UNSW Online reports to the Operations Manager, UNSW Online and has no direct reports.

About the Role              

The successful applicant will be required to undertake and have experience in the following areas of expertise:

  • Provide high-level program, course, project and operational support to the Operations Manager and the broader UNSW Online team, with a strong focus on internal award program operations, education support and course administration.
  • Support the end-to-end coordination, product design, uplift and delivery of UNSW Online education initiatives, facilitating academic readiness, scheduling, faculty expertise integration and effective stakeholder engagement across internal development and design teams.
  • Oversee and deliver assigned Lifelong Learning projects and initiatives, taking responsibility for planning, milestone tracking, resource monitoring, capacity planning and proactive risk and dependency management.
  • Maintain integrated monitoring and reporting across project deliverables, risks, issues and costs, escalating complex matters requiring academic, policy or executive determination in a timely manner.
  • Drive continuous process improvement across UNSW Online and Lifelong Learning by reviewing operational practices, improving information flows, and developing streamlined tools, templates and ways of working.
  • Manage clear, accurate and effective stakeholder communications across internal teams, faculties, academic staff and external partners, while delivering comprehensive administrative support including meeting coordination, minute-taking, briefing materials and action tracking.
  • Ensure strict compliance with UNSW governance pathways, university policies, enterprise agreements and health and safety requirements, while actively modelling UNSW values, mitigating risk and fostering a collaborative, improvement-focused team culture.

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience, or equivalent competence gained through a combination of education, training and experience.
  • Proven experience delivering operational, administrative and project coordination within a complex environment, preferably across higher education, online learning or program delivery.
  • Strong project support capabilities, with a sound understanding of the project life cycle, action tracking, milestone reporting, scheduling and developing clear project plans.
  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to exercise judgement and initiative when managing competing demands and shifting priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail in producing high-quality documentation, reports, correspondence and project deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, build productive relationships with stakeholders at all levels, and operate effectively both independently and as a service-focused team member.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite, project management software and enterprise systems, alongside the capacity to quickly adapt to new university platforms and tools.
