Why Your Role Matters:
Multiple opportunities are available for Finance Support Services Officers within Operational Finance, delivering financial processes and transactional activities that support the day-to-day operations of UNSW Faculties and Divisions.
Operational Finance supports UNSW’s core finance systems and transactional activities, including Finance Support Services, Help Desk, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. The team is focused on standardising and continuously improving processes and systems to support financial management integrity and strategy.
These opportunities would suit both experienced finance professionals looking to apply their operational expertise in a large and complex organisation, and emerging accounting professionals seeking to further develop their skills in a supportive, high-volume finance environment.
The role reports to the Finance Support Services Supervisor and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities:
- Perform broad financial administration duties, including purchase orders, billing, receipting, month-end activities, journals and routine reporting, ensuring accuracy, data integrity and compliance with financial controls, policies and funding guidelines.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships and provide guidance, advice and support on purchasing processes, policies and systems.
- Support continuous improvement of Finance processes by championing change and seeking feedback.
- Provide reliable, efficient and effective customer service through timely and professional communication.
- Foster collaborative and productive relationships across Finance to support effective and accurate service delivery.
- Undertake other duties required to meet customer and Finance needs, commensurate with the role and level.

Skills and Experience Summary:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and progression towards a CA or CPA qualification is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in high-volume operational purchase-to-pay or transactional financial services within a large and diverse business.
- Demonstrated awareness of financial controls and experience applying policy and guidelines.
- Experience managing customer expectations and appropriately responding to customer needs.
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work professionally with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in a high-volume environment.
- Well-developed time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines while providing excellent customer service.
- Working knowledge of computer applications and experience with enterprise financial systems and software, such as PeopleSoft and Concur.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver results within required deadlines and quality parameters.
