Details of the role
The Educational Designer/Technologist works collaboratively with academic staff to design, develop, implement, evaluate, and innovate courses and programs. The position is also responsible for the development of technology enhanced curriculum that utilises excellent online learning and teaching strategies and digital resources to enhance the learning experience of students across UNSW Medicine & Health.
Join a collaborative team shaping the future of learning within Medicine & Health. In this role, you will partner with academic staff to create engaging, student-centred learning experiences across blended and online environments. You will provide expert advice on curriculum design, assessment strategies, educational technologies, and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. Working across a diverse range of projects, you will help design and implement high-quality learning solutions, evaluate their impact, and support continuous improvement. This is an exciting opportunity for a learning design professional who combines pedagogical expertise with strong technical capability and enjoys influencing positive educational outcomes through innovation, collaboration, and evidence-based practice.
The role of Educational Designer/Technologist reports to the Manager, Medicine & Health
Education Development Unit (MHEDU) and has no direct reports.
Some key skills required:
- Relevant qualifications in education and technology with experience in the development of technology-enabled learning, teaching and/or curriculum for higher education; or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of web-based learning management systems (such as Moodle), authoring tools (such as Articulate 360), and other educational technologies & media to create interactive and innovative blended and online learning environments for students.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively supporting academic staff to design, develop and implement learning and assessment strategies that align with the course and program outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects with proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience in organising, designing, delivering and evaluating professional learning workshops for staff in both face-to-face and online formats, including the development of resources and guides to support self-directed learning.
- Demonstrated experience in student-centred, technology-enabled learning design and the effective use of pedagogically appropriate learning and teaching strategies to produce quality, personalised curriculum.
- Proven technical support and problem-solving skills, and ability to apply current operational knowledge in the use of a range of educational technology platforms, tools and development software.
- High-level problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to exercise initiative to pursue and develop innovative solutions while establishing and maintaining effective collaborative professional relationships with staff at all levels.
