About the Role
The Senior Business Analyst leads complex business analysis activities across high-priority enterprise projects, with a specific focus on supporting the integration and migration of legacy PeopleSoft systems into the broader Oracle Fusion cloud platform suite. Working closely with senior stakeholders, the role drives the comprehensive definition of business needs, data mappings, and cross-functional process improvements to ensure target-state Oracle solutions are highly practical, scalable, and aligned with UNSW’s strategic goals.
The role actively influences architecture, data governance, and technology decisions, provides technical mentorship to other analysts, and contributes to the continuous improvement of analysis practices, standards, and tools across the University.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end business analysis for complex enterprise initiatives, partnering with senior stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into clear technical requirements from initial problem identification through to post-implementation review.
- Design and document comprehensive "as-is" and "to-be" business processes, system boundaries, and data mappings required to support the seamless integration of legacy PeopleSoft modules into the broader Oracle Fusion cloud platform suite.
- Collaborate closely with solution architects, developers, and data integration teams to design scalable solutions that handle the coexistence and migration of complex data structures while respecting technical constraints.
- Develop business cases, feasibility studies, and robust options analyses to guide senior leadership on system design prioritization and complex platform decision-making.
- Guide and support enterprise testing strategies, including defining user acceptance testing (UAT) criteria, test cases, and validation models to ensure deliverables meet both functional business needs and data integrity standards.
- Mentor fellow analysts across workstreams and define appropriate business analysis approaches and toolsets to elevate institutional standards, documentation practices, and alignment with enterprise architecture.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of extensive professional education, training, and experience.
- Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) leading strategic, enterprise-scale business analysis initiatives within large, complex organizations using structured or agile delivery frameworks (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
- Proven experience supporting major ERP platform implementations or migrations, with a strong background analyzing or integrating legacy systems (such as PeopleSoft) into modern cloud-based platform suites (such as Oracle Fusion).
- High-level expertise in technical business analysis techniques, including advanced data analysis, process mapping, requirements elicitation, data migration planning, and comprehensive system integration tracking.
- Outstanding communication, facilitation, and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to mentor other analysts and bridge complex technical discussions between architects, integration teams, and executive stakeholders.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to data governance, health and safety responsibilities, and alignment with the strategic aims and values of the University.
