Why your role matters
The Future Students Coordinator is a key member of the Indigenous Student Success team within the Nura Gili Centre for Indigenous Programs at UNSW. This role is dedicated to promoting higher education opportunities to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students, non-school leavers and Indigenous communities, inspiring and supporting prospective students to pursue university study.
Working collaboratively across Faculties and Divisions, the Future Students Coordinator facilitates and coordinates access pathways into undergraduate and postgraduate programs, contributing to the University's commitment to increasing Indigenous student participation and success. The role plays an important part in achieving Nura Gili's strategic objectives by building strong relationships with schools, communities and internal stakeholders to enhance Indigenous enrolment across UNSW.
Reporting to the Employability and External Relations Manager, the Future Students Coordinator also provides support to the Deputy Director, Nura Gili.
Specific accountabilities include:
- Contribute to a positive and dynamic Nura Gili community, informed by culturally affirming values, experiences and shared aspirations.
- Collaborate with the Indigenous Student Success Team to foster relationships with schools, vocational education providers and community groups to identify cohorts and connect with prospective Indigenous students, develop early engagement strategies and promote holistic opportunities.
- Develop and maintain a communications schedule and content to facilitate timely advice to prospective Indigenous students, their families, education staff and internal stakeholders regarding UNSW recruitment and access pathways.
- Support implementation, coordination and planning of community and school based activities and engagement in collaboration with key stakeholders to continually improve Indigenous recruitment outcomes in line with targets and milestones.
About You:

- Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated experience contributing to Indigenous programs and opportunities that result in positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
- High level project/program management skills, with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
- Demonstrated ability to create positive, vibrant and respectful relationships.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to liaise effectively with a range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience working with a range of computer systems and applications, including Microsoft Office and CRMs.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
This role requires the successful candidate to hold a valid paid Working with Children’s Check.
