  • Remuneration: $153,933 base, plus 17% Superannuation and leave loading.

National Centre for Clinical Research on Emerging Drugs

The National Centre for Clinical Research on Emerging Drugs (NCCRED) is a national research centre for methamphetamine and emerging drugs of concern that embeds research in clinical practice. It aims to support clinicians to detect and respond to new drug health problems by building clinical research capacity and rapidly translating findings into clinical practice.

About this role

The Centre Operations Manager leads NCCRED’s national research, translation and early warning programs, including the Prompt Response Network. The role oversees program delivery, governance, funding, finances, stakeholder engagement and performance reporting, ensuring alignment with Australian Government priorities and contractual requirements.

Working with substantial autonomy, the manager sets priorities, allocates resources, advises senior leadership and helps shape NCCRED’s strategy, partnerships and national impact. The role also leads a multidisciplinary team and works with government, health, academic and community partners to support coordinated, evidence-informed responses to emerging drug harms.

Key skills and experience required:

  • Postgraduate qualifications (health management or equivalent) and extensive relevant experience in program management, operations and governance within complex health, research or government environments within the alcohol and other drug sector, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale, complex programs with multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage significant financial resources, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Experience developing and implementing governance, risk and compliance frameworks.
  • Strong experience negotiating and managing contracts and legal agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high-level advice and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills across diverse sectors.
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing and developing staff.
